What Are The Industry Standards For Fused Alumina?

Mar 08, 2026

The industry standards for fused alumina mainly cover chemical composition, physical properties, and testing methods, used to standardize product quality and unify testing methods. The following are the core national standards:

1. Product Standards

GB/T 24487-2020 "Alumina" Applicable to alumina used in the production of metallic aluminum by molten salt electrolysis, and also applicable to the production of corundum, ceramics, and refractory materials. It specifies the limits for the main components and impurities in industrial-grade alumina:

Al₂O₃ ≥98.5% (High-purity grade can reach ≥99%)

Na₂O ≤0.5% Impurities such as Fe₂O₃, SiO₂, and CaO have clearly defined upper limits.

2. Standards for Chemical Analysis and Physical Property Determination (GB/T 6609 Series)
This series of standards is specifically for the testing of alumina materials. Some key standards are as follows:

Table Standard No. Test Item
GB/T 6609.1 Trace Element Content (ICP-OES Method)
GB/T 6609.5 Determination of Sodium Oxide (Na₂O) Content
GB/T 6609.4 Determination of Ferric Oxide (Fe₂O₃) by Spectrophotometry
GB/T 6609.3 Determination of Silica (SiO₂) by Molybdenum Blue Spectrophotometry
GB/T 6609.13 Determination of Calcium Oxide (CaO) by Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrometry
GB/T 6609.30 Trace Elements (X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometry)
